IMO that s s**t hot and I imagine there will be a NISMO version at some point.

Id really struggle with the choice of this or a Mustang.
I say the only thing the Mustang has over this is the sound of an 8.

I expect the Nissan will **** on the Mustang in every other possible way.

Bloody good looker... 300kw twin turbo 6 and a manual option also.

Absolutely blows the Supra away for looks too.

I agree, I dont mind the Supra but for me no manual defeats the point.

Id happily have one of each TBH..perhaps a return of a mini-golden era which is not expected to last long.

Still not sure I'm a fan of the way it looks, although it has grown on me since it was revealed as a concept. Still think I prefer the Supra with it's inline 6, the Nissan V-series engines have never impressed me, they have an unpleasant groan to them that just doesn't sound good to these ears.

I’m not really a fan. Mostly 370Z with tacked on 240 headlights, and 300zx taillights. Done on the cheap cause nissan is badly in the red.

At least they didn’t skimp on the engine. About time they went back to turbos.

Would most definitely pick a Supra over that.
I mean it's not bad.
But new supra is on an entire different planet looks wise, looks way better.

Space shouldn't be too bad as its a 2 seater not 2+2...350/370 looks to be a big enough chassis that surely room is adequate.

A review with this, the Mustang and Supra is going to be a good read for once.

Such a shame the Supra has no manual, more from a comparison perspective. Yeaaaah autos are great etc etc but this segment should be the manuals last great hope.

too narrow, no knee room and the seats dont go back far enough, thats for a 370 so im assuming it will be much the same, as sad as that makes me

I think they have nailed it for the generation who is actually in a position to buy it.

A bit of nostalgia and a bit of Gran Turismo.

Agree
Given clever use of existing engine/chassis as a starting point I'd guess it'll price closer to MX-5 then Supra, helping sales.
Tried a MX-5 on for size "cossetting". But it ain't got twin turbo 400 hp motorvation.

So...given the chassis isnt a huge departure from the 350/370 a cheap 350 with this powertrain would be a cool ride too...perhaps easier to just turbo the DE but there goes the trans.

It won’t be that cheap though. 65k at a minimum.

Do you mean this technically or visually? 'Cause if the latter that seems a bit harsh - a side from its coupe roof line which is obviously unavoidable, it doesn't share much else at all with the 370.

They would be smart to keep it a fraction under the Mustang, but, 65k is good IMO.

Yes it does. The whole centre section is straight 370. Just with a restyled front and rear done on the cheap, cause nissan have no money. The interior is nearly all straight 370 but with a new dash as well. Near straight carry over door trims etc.

At least they spent money where it really needed it, with a turbo engine.

If I were buying and assuming roughly the same price point, I'd probably go the Mustang. I like the look of the Mustang but the bigger thing is I want a V8 for my next car.

Nissan will win or lose on their pricing.

The thing is, they have fixed everything I don't like about the 370Z. I just have never liked it.

However, while the 2023 Nissan Z certainly looks like a brand new, ground-up design, that isn’t necessarily the case. Its overall shape is similar to the outgoing 370Z, and as it turns out, that’s because it retains the same chassis code – Z34 – as that model. Regardless, pretty much everything else about the new Z is indeed new, including its bodywork, interior, and drivetrain components.
I'm sorry they are in my situation (no money!) however, if that makes it better value for me, all the better.

And, while the Mustang owning forum members are mostly not sure about the new Z, I suspect on the road they will not like it at all, unless the road's completely straight...

Quote:
Nissan says the new Z will do 0-60 15 percent quicker than its predecessor, which works out to around 4.25 seconds or so.
Regarding price, the US will get a very cheap version compared to Aus... I had expected the significant rumoured Aus pricing, and I wasn't interested until I saw we should get the full package. So now I am. Quite the August "reveal" indeed.

Why would anyone buy one of those over a Mustang?

Looks cheap, very Asian & would play the entirely wrong soundtrack.

Still a bit harsh I think - how much different do you expect a new coupe from a car company to be?

Were we expecting evolution or revolution given that this is a continuation of the Z brand over time?

I think given that car companies are given the tough task to bring new and exciting product to market when times are tough is something to be commended - that 400z interior and exterior is fresh as hell by comparison to the 370z even if they are using the 370z as the base platform to design it.

Well, my children look a bit Asian, so maybe I'm somehow biased.

It's already been said at the start of this page what some think the reasons would be to pick it over the North American Ford. Personally, I'm waiting for the real tests and reviews, along with the final price. It has to be good, because I don't like 6 monthly services, which is probably what it needs. I sort of feel the AU$65K price was guessed based on the low-spec version the US will get. If it's not competitive, I'll quickly forget about it.

Besides, you can play your own soundtrack, as you scoot away from the opposition:

I dig it. I agree it feels a little Gran Turismo but I thought the 350 and 370 weren't that interesting. This is. I dig the lines, the tails (yes I am a 90s kid so...) and I think the interior is sweet. Mustangs are everywhere as well, don't think you'll see as many of these on the road. Compared with a German equivalent, I think this will be much more affordable, not as good but for the price will scratch an itch. 65k vs 120k for a MB Coupe for instance.

The comments in that review about the shifter feeling clunky, makes me wonder how the Honda Type R cars have theirs as some of the best feeling shift actions in the business, same with the Euro Fords like the Fiesta/Focus ST/RS and yet all the FWD cars are using shift cables, Nissan has the benefit of the shift lever going directly into the box and it feels crap
