It was a bad batch of valves in engines built in 2021, it happens from time to time but a few are trying to make out that the problem is more wide spread then it really is, the same engine is used in 2.7 EB F150 models.

So the theory is if the engine craps and leaks everywhere, there’s a risk of fire, so they’re upping ventilation
to stop combustible gasses building up…

New and intersting ways that cars fail all because Ford and its suppliers can’t follow basic quality rules / standards.
This is all of Hackett’s “cost cutting” coming back to haunt Jim Farley, Ford’s name continually getting trashed now….

Wonder if the original savings are greater than the recall/rectification/brand image costs?

If you recall, all those savings were part of reductions in ICE development that went
towards the original $11 billion assigned to electrification. I doubt that Ford would even
acknowledge that there was ever a problem with that trade off…..their buyers might disagree.

They're not the only ones. Landrover continue to sell a V6 with crankshafts that have been breaking in two (consistently in the same way/location, so much so you can almost join two halves from two different failed engines) for maybe 10 years without redesign. You wonder how the beancounters think....

Land Rover hasn’t used the Lion V6 for a couple of years now, the 3.0 I-6 Ingenium diesel took over.
The crank and rods the 3.0 V6 were upgraded to forgings when used as Powerstroke in F150 and new Ranger…
Incidentally, cracking in the cast cranks was traced to a machining fault on the front rod pair rear journal.

how good of them. you're still screwed if it happens to yours. there really needs to be more legislative support for customers when its clear a problem is widespread. class actions shouldnt be needed.
