Are Tesla drivers the worst drivers in the world?

I'll help by stirring a bit. The Tesla drivers are probably too busy looking down their noses at the ICE Car drivers to watch the road. Sorry; I know it's a cheap shot but I couldn't resist.

Overall, Tesla ranked second for having the worst drivers. Ram actually beat it out in the overall ranking due to its slightly worse combo of accidents, DUIs, speeding, and citations. Ram scored 32.90 overall, while Tesla scored 31.13 and Subaru 30.09.

But, wait, there's more ...

BMW drivers have the highest DUI rate by a wide margin. BMW drivers had 3.13 DUIs per 1,000 drivers — nearly twice the rate of DUIs among Ram drivers (1.72), the next-highest ranking auto brand

with Tesla drivers coming "last" in that category.

What conclusions can we draw from RAM and BMW drivers?

I must admit, I am getting a bit sick of insurance companies using "crash data" (whatever that means) to generate media publicity. RACQ Insurance (in Queensland) do this type of media feeding quite a bit.

Teslas don't hold any interest for me, but I can't say that I've noticed a higher percentage of Tesla drivers being dickheads over any other brand.
In my area, it does seem as though Rangers and Hi-Luxes are the predominant weapons of choice for knob jockeys.

And from watching the real life TV series Motorway Patrol it's seems they only get a slap on wrist for even major offences.

I think the Getz drivers, usually either P platers or very elderly (noting I am 70) are the suicidal Lemmings of the road pulling out of stop signs etc. Next biggest dangerous driving offenders seem to be BMW and Mercedes drivers who seem to think the own the road and we should all get out their way even when they are often on the wrong side of the road.

Yep and to discourage them from using cell phones we give them a $60 or $70 fine ....that's if you ever get caught

Seeing our sister panel shop that specialises in Teslas is full and pumping along nicely I would have to agree, but seeing there are not too many Registered electric car repairers, I suppose it would be full.

The manager at our sister shop says that each Tesla repair starts at about $30,000, supposedly because you cant repair them with traditional methods and the car has to be stripped down to replace the bonded aluminium panels, as they cant repair aluminium panel only replace.

Thanks for the info on Tesla repairs, I can see this adding significantly to insurance policies
but the most infuriating part is that they will increase everyone else’s premiums to cover these vehicles.

I’ve heard that in a side crash, if the battery case is dented or battery compromised, they write them off in the US as the cost of replacing a structural is horrendous…

My experience is that a lot do seem pretty average, BUT the bad ones are generally the Uber ones I see around, and its Uber drivers in general (whether Tesla, Camry or anything else) that are the worst drivers on the road by a country mile.

My biggest problem with Tesla drivers though, is that whenever i Drive my SSV Redline, every halfwit in a Tesla wants to race me... And its usually some Early/Middle 20's dude in a Base model Model 3 as well... Sad..

Best I've seen - when indicating left, turned right. Indicated right, but turned left. Brake lights were on as was speeding up and slowed without brake lights...

Out on the freeways, its always the tool in the black Merc hogging the hammer lane and slightly under the speed limit totally oblivious to whats going on around them.
Usually the same fool doesn't know what parking in one car space means either.

The only other ones that like to hog the fast lane are black BMW's and again slightly under the limit but with Highway Patrol written down the sides and back we tend to let that slide.
