Default There may a shortage shortage of low quality parts that don't work right out of the box".

Given Dorman's international questionable product reputation (right up there with the "Prince of Darkness" Lucas Industries), I'd be surprised if any of the fire prevention equipment in the building worked correctly.

https://northpennnow.com/news/2024/n...day-afternoon/

"An emergency "mayday" was declared around 1:30 p..m., per Montgomery County Emergency Radio dispatch, and all firefighting units have been immediately evacuated and accounted for from a major four-alarm warehouse fire at Dorman Products in Hatfield Township, as of 1:48 p.m. "

As one of the comments said: "now there's going to be a shortage of low quality parts that don't work right out of the box". I had to steal that one for this thread heading.

And yes I know on occasion I have referred people on the forum to Dorman products but sometimes there is no other choice available and some of some their simpler stuff like sump plugs and transmission selector bushes is OK. The and the stuff they sold in the previous century (when probably not sourced from China) was also certainly much better.

So what is the Australian automotive supplier akin to the "Wings of Death" or the "Prince of Darkness" nominations and a nickname for them too please?

They're all pretty shit these days but crown has to go to Cooldrive Distribution and their Jaylec branded alternators and starter motors.

Absolute trash,

So as a nickname perhaps "Jayeleclost" or "Jayelecless" perhaps? I hope the Jayair air con compressor I just bought for my son's Mazda 3 is not a dud too.

P.S. if it was unclear Dorman Products are often known colloquially in many parts of North America as the "Wings of Death" due to the "Wings" on each side of their logo and the propensity of there products to fail soon after installation:

OEX might have been a better choice. But you may be fine.

They didn't have one to fit a2011 BL Mazda 3 SP2.5 Hatch (well not where I looked) and the genuine Mazda one was around $2,000 dollars.

I think the original compressor is leaking from the front seal although my uvBeast Black Light UV Flashlight shows the whole compressor covered in green dye. A large part of the car needs to be dismantled to replace the condenser and compressor (the steel bumper needs to be unbolted from the chassis and all the plastic under-tray and all the front panel. in front of the bumper need too come off). So my plan is to fit the Jayair unit and a new genuine condesor assembly then service the original Mazda compressor (or at least buy the bits I need to do so in future) so if the Jayair one fails prematurely I will have a genuine Mazda one on hand (albeit perhaps still in pieces) to replace it.

BTW I highly recommend the uvBeast Black Light; this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TQKY1GC...fed_asin_title Not cheap (well over $100 after you buy via Amazon US) but it makes all my cheaper blacklights look like birthday candles in comparison and it lights up the whole engine bay even in sunlight. My other old moderately priced blacklights did not pick up the compressor leaks. I bought it based on Eric O tip on his Sooth Main Auto YouTube Channel here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53Kp9YVCTnY and I went from not being able to detect any leaks to the leaks being very obvious.

I'm a reseller & sell a lot a units from JAS Oceania & find their quality to be superior to both Jaylec & OEX. Many JAS alternators have OEM regulators fitted.

Do they do a AC compressor for the 2011 BL Mazda 3 SP 2.5 Hatchback?
