Hey Guys and Gals!
Just thought I would finally get some pics up and a bit of info on my mk2 Escort 2 Door which im rebuilding. I have fallen in love with Escorts since my Cousin took me for a ride in his stock 1.6 Litre when i was 8. I got the car in Jan this year, it was being used as a rally car and now im converting it back to being a road car but still keeping the rally feel to it. It came with some goodies so it was a good buy for the price i got it for. The car already had- 2 Litre Block with standard internals 4 Speed 32/36 Carb PaceMakers 2 1/2 inch lukey exhaust which ended at drivers door Alloy Half Cage SAAS bucket with Harness PBR Button Clutch Re surfaced and Lightened Flywheel Bigger Swaybars Rear Billi shocks 13 inch globes 4.11 Mig Locked Diff I only got the car home and drove it in the driveway which is about 25 metres long every few days just to have a drive of it and it felt damn fast then. The orignal plan was to build the engine up to twin 45mm's, lumpy cam and some head work, which sounded like good fun and im still wanting to experience the twin 45's. If any of you visit clasic ford forum there was a motor for Sierra Injected Turbo Pinto for sale from a very friendly guy with a awesome mk1 Project, and i couldnt let the chance to own it go bye so i grabbed it. Now im in the stage of getting the body ready to paint and finishing of the engine and drive train. Engine Specs are as follows, Pinto Block which is 40 thou over Standard Pinto Crank Peened Pinto Rods Hyperetic Pistons 7.5:1 Two Head gaskets with a metal De comp plate in middle Pinto head, Mild Porting/ Injection teardrops/ Double Valve Springs Re ground cam to suit turbo Hi Volume Oil Pump Cast garret Exhaust manifold with a rebuilt t3, done 200kms External Wastegate 36mm Sierra Injection manifold, Fuel Rail, Injectors Regulator and Throttle Body Scorcher Electronic Diz Rollmaster Adjustable Cam gear The person i purchased it has never run it in his car but the guy before ran without injection, just a carb set up and with 12 pound boost it made 140rwkw. Im hoping to get around 170rwkw once injection is running via ECU which i have to source and boosting around 16 pound with a intercooler. heres a pic of the engine http://img154.imageshack.us/my.php?i...engine21vv.jpg and here is the body i snapped a few mins ago in shed, sorry poor quality. http://img107.imageshack.us/my.php?image=10008489re.jpg The plans are for a LSD Diff with a 3.7,3.9 or 4.11 and a Sierra 5 Speed. Still unsure really, im wanting some strong with a LSD and i dont fancy driving a locked diff on the road, want to aviod breaking diffs. The car has one spot of rust in the front right quarter panel so i am replacing that. The car is also being seem welded and gusset plates fitted while im at it. Rear Disc brakes and vented/slotted fronts with some decent front suspension, and to stiffen the rear shocks up which have been valved for Dirt. Lowering ride height im unsure of as i want the car to be able to drive on dirt okay but want some tarmac turning ability to. Well thats it, ill add some more once i have gotten a bit further. It seems quite a few younger drivers have Escorts, its the way to go, im only 18 myself. Cheers Kris Last edited by 2n I L8; 06-06-2006 at 10:24 PM. |

How did your setup go greenmk2? What sort of power were you making and what sort of boost you running on it? Also what radiator is that, its massive, im in need if a radiator, and a big one at that.

same as my setup but i am using a ihi204 wrx turbo. if you ever pull the head off agin why dont you get someone to machine into the valve dish to drop the comp ratio a bit. i run 40thou over size to but mine are forged flat tops. were did you get your turbo manifold from?

The motor came as is so im not sure where the manifold came from to be honest. I will see how it goes for now, ill no doubt end up going a cosworth motor in a year or so, im just going to see how this goes for now. The comp ratio should be low enough for the boost im running, and im not raising the boost anymore, the rods just wont take it. Its not a daily driving car, just for weekends and whenever i feel like a drive.
