Default Citroen C2 VTS Manual $23,990

Finally!

I really have a thing for this car. When the Fiesta came out, to me they looked extremely similar. The VTR was flawed with the Sensodrive, but finally they have some performance to them. With 90kW (up 10kW above the Sensodrive VTR) this VTS storms the 0-100km/h in 8.3seconds, with a 1.6L Manual, which means cheap insurance too!

At $23,990.. I would have had one instead of the Fiesta (if they were out back in 2004!)

Hmmmm not a bad piece of kit there performance wise, but im not to fond of the rear widows and rear. The front looks appitising/stylish but for 24g you cant go wrong.

All of a sudden there are more small cars with hopped up performance being released in oz, hopefully FORD catches on.

It's funny how VTS performs better than VTR. Anything with "R" stuck on it should be the best performing thing in that model

Yes, but Citroen is French and when was the last time a Frenchy made sense to you? :P

They do have a nice stance but the side profile looks a little Daihatsu YRV (those that remeber the short life of that one) for my tastes.

I should have mentioned that I wasn't implying the VTS is better then the WQ Fiesta Zetec. Both great cars. The VTS just has blistering performance for a 1.6L, and I imagine the insurance is cheap too. But had it been out when I bought my WP Zetec, I would have been in the C2. I love the looks, and it has the bodykit already, as well as the 16 inch alloys (which I had to option on the WP)

At least 16 inch alloys are standard on the Fez now, as is a fairly decent boot & back seat. No such room in the C2. The Zetec may be slower, but it's a good deal cheaper too.

I'ved owned a few Pugs in my time. My last car was a 306 XR & a GTI6 would have been nice if I could have found one down here. I reckon a second hand 206 GTI 180 would be better than a C2.

I'd buy that 92kW Suzuki Swift Sport thing before I bought the C2.

Yep, sorry Steven I haven't logged on for a day or two.

You can always tell the heathens who haven't actually driven a French hot hatch......... :

Good to see the manual version has finally arrived- wasn't that the car that was keeping up with the Fiesta ST on that Top Gear video? The ST beat it off the line but the C2 didn't really lose it any ground after that?

Citroen are idiots! They haven't even got it listed on their Aussie website?!

The only mention is a quick review in their News section. Supposedly it's on sale now?

Here's that video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pT0yU...earch=c2%20vts

Given equal drivers (and going by that video) a lesser powered Aussie Fiesta Zetec would get slaughtered...

Wow what a little rocket.

And just as i am in the market for a new car...... hmm....

It offers fantastic torque. GREAT power, good safety features.

I read it has switchable ESP. Not sure if it makes it into the australian model or not?!

And at a cheap price.

Good find David (Murcod)

So, swaytan... you going to apologise now? :P

The C2 VTS should leave the Zetec behind... considering it is also almost 2s quicker to 100km/h

i personally find this thread pointless, IMO. its a french car, and everything the french produce always has something wrong with it. and most of the time looks like a frog. isnt this a ford forum?????? JMO.

yeah it is a ford forum.. hence www.fordforums.com.au

But Some of us are euro hatch fanatics.

With the small hot hatch market booming the C2 VTS will make a great addition at an entry level price. In other words, great bang for buck.

How boring would this forum be if all we talked about was Ford?

Im going to Citroen today to check it out, i will let you all know how it goes. Hopefully they will offer me the keys to one for a drive.

Ps the c2 vts looks like the result of a one night stand between a Clio and a Fiesta.

photn,

It has been said before. You only purchase Fords.

Most of us here look at other brands also...

Ok, so Today i rung Citroen. Asked if they had a VTS on the showroom floor. they said they did and i could come down for a look.

Anyway i arrived and it was the VTR with sensodrive transmission.

The sales lady offered me a test drive which i did agree too.
Ergk... now i know why Sensodrive has been reviewed soo poorly. it was a shocking gearbox. You can feel it slipping the clutch. At low rpm it felt like a complete dog. However in the midrange, it really was quite a sweet engine.

Didnt get much of a chance to fang it.

I then went over to VW... the polo GTI really IS a about ten steps above the C2 in every way.
Im now looking at a new polo gti in White, only option will be leather pack.
It just looked soo stunning, felt so solid, so fast and so stable.

Esp cutting in changing from second to third confirms it is a very powerfull little motor.
It also uses Sachs Shock absorbers from what i could tell ( was very wet) it handles quite admirably too
