Mate of mine was an Ins. Agent & told me the same thing , a good 60% of the time this happens.

I had a shop in western Sydney & was broken into 14 times in 13 years , different place every time , even through a "double brick wall" the last time ..

Oh & "burnt out" once , someone didn't like the Solicitors upstairs & used a 20L can of petrol to do the job ! ! ! !

feathers if somone even thought about knocking off my 2 cockatoos i would personally feed him/her to them. my feathered guardians of the backyard would have a ball mauling someone they dont know, mind you they are only 4 years old (this christmas) and their beaks will chop fingers off an adult human!

Those building these days have to beware, not just by dodgy residents and crooks doing the rounds but the tradies themselves. Everything on building sites is worth money, and they will take it.

I've worked at houses where the packing sand that was delivered to do the slab was taken, then timber was stolen, then materials for inside were taken. The timber and materials was found to be one of the tradies working on the house, they used the stolen stuff to save $$ on another job then they charged the builder twice for installing the stuff they flogged!

I agree with the fact that some trades are shady. Its pretty sad.Most of the trades that we work along side are good. We did a display home recently that had all of the appliances and furniture delivered and installed on u friday, and the alarm fitted. The installers couldnt get it finished on the friday, so the alarm was due to be finished and activated on the monday. over the weekend, the house was emptied. Was loaded with expensive fittings too. Would hav required 3 or 4 guys and a truck to take what they did in the time they did.

Crazy 1 was the guy stealing infinity hot water units and selling them for $50. They are worth between $750 and $1100 depending on what brand and model and he sold em for $50!!!!! Hardly worth doing time over $50!

Never been broken into. Buy a good dog. Doesnt even need to be savage, just the noise they make and the attention they draw is enough to deter most amateur theives. Plus its a tax deduction for me! Ha.

Had my car broken into and it made me so so so so so so angry! Got my $1000 head unit, gf's phone, her wallet, 100+ cd's, luckily for me they didnt look in the boot as i'd just picked up some new power tools. Was 100m from the main gate at the melb zoo in full view and broad daylight. Theif punched through the pass window, and head unit was very securely installed as i did it myself. Looks like they used a big screw driver to get it, then bust the glove box open. Then they proceeded to smash the entire dash up, smashed the climate control unit, door trims, center console. Blood all through the car as they must have cut themselves up pretty badly smashing the window. We called the phone, as it was off when it was stolen, and it rang so they had turned it on. A guy answered it and told me how he loved all of my stuff and couldnt wait to install the head unit. Told him to come back so i could do to his face what he'd done to my car and he hung up. SCUM

I'd have to say that I've been pretty fortunate - Nor the new house or the old one has been broken into. Well, I'm pretty sure the old house was okay.

I've had my car broken into however, Headunit stolen and all my cds, I don't think anything else was worth taking- although it looks like they tried to take the car.

Feel sorry for everyone thats had their house broken into, can imagine the anger.

Yup, house would be marked out by builder ready for concretors, sand delivered, then truck and machine would come and get the sand and use it on another job to save money. A truckload of packing sand would be around $400-500, so anywhere they can save money will be of benefit

A copper I know worked on a case a few years back on a syndicate that done this type of stuff (mostly the whitgoods and hot water services) stretching from the western suburbs all through central Victoria and up to the border, and they were all linked with one another

Building materials can become very valuable...take Perth for example...the Rules of supply and demand are reaking havock on the real estate and construction market at the moment

Our Corella was never too good with people, but he spent a few months at my grandparents' house (after my mother had a kidney transplant - can't have pets around due to the immunosuppresive drugs), and my grandmother managed to calm him down to the point where you could put your fingers in and pet him, you'd never take your eyes off him though.

Once he moved to the depot, with people coming and going and all the noise, it got him agitated again, and he became more vicious.
Even to change his seed and water you had to wear thick leather gloves, and he'd still try to claw you or bite.

He was a good 40+ years old.


Also while building the house we had 5 tonnes of reinforced cement dumped in our yard. Whoever it was saw the old house staring to come down, and thought it was a great opportunity to get rid of their rubbish without having to pay the tip fees.
Our neighbours saw them back the truck into the driveway, but assumed it was ours, waved at the people in it, then went back inside.

Havent personally, touch wood. Grandparents unit got ransacked while they were on holidays yrs ago. They got a VERY old TV-one with dials for tuning the stations, old Microwave, old Binoculars and a very old rifle that my Pa said would most likely blow up in their face if they fired it. Stupid drug fu":ed idiots missed, new powersaw still in its box, new binoculars in their box and a wad of cash my Nana had stashed in clothes hanging in the wardrobe, rather large wad too I might add, serves em right scum
