What will be the next "Classic"

It depends on how you define "classic".

An XY GT or SLR Torana are highly desireable classics, and they have the pricetag to match. They are bought for their performance characteristics, the badge, to fufill a fantasy/dream, along those lines.

But at the same time, an XB Falcon 500 is a classic too. It's the quintessential family car of the 1970s and tidy examples go for $10k plus these days. People are not really buying them for their performance or the badge, but because they represent something from a bygone era, nostalgia, childhood memories, etc. It takes people back to that time.
In the same way, many of the big Aussie sedans of the last 15-20 years may become classics in the future if they last. Who'd have thought an XE GL would ever become a classic? But they are well on their way. I could see somebody paying a tidy sum for a well kept EB Fairmont one day.
