I was thinking the other day of a certain product I used to eat when I was a kid when looking in the refrigerated & deli section at the local supermarket. It got me thinking of all the other things that have gone AWOL from shelves & wish we were still able to buy it somehow. I thought I might put some of them up so that way we can reminise over the great products gone by, or may find out that you can only get them from a certain store/chain/state/area from someone else.
-McDonalds Iced Coffee shake. No not the one they pour for you, it came out of the ice cream machine alongside the vanilla, strawberry, & chocolate shakes (which they still make) It was available at the Mc Donalds at Gatton, the whole family used to buy one each when we went there. It was only avaiable in Charters Towers too, the stopped at every other Maccas a year or so before it went at the Maccas at Gatton. They dont offer it anymore, & I sent an email asking them if it would return & they said late last year. It's 2011, and it hasn't returned...... -Dutch Roast Pork I'm pretty sure this was produced buy Hans (the company that has quite a few meat products in your local supermarket packaged meat section). I used to LOVE DRP sandwiches as a kid. I wish they still made it. Yummmo! -Arnotts Kahlua slice. This just disappeared from the shelves a few years ago. It's like the mint slice only with Kahlua. Awesome stuff. -Sunshine "Malt" biscuits not those "Malt-o-milk" by Arnotts, but the proper "Malt" biscuits. In fact I think sunshine went bust quite a few years ago. - I can't remember the actual name, but there was a local teflon product that my dad used to use when re-packing wheel-bearings for the cars or trailers. When never had to repack them after that. EVER. if we did, it was due to a change of hub or rotor, or complete bearing failure, if it was a hub replacement, after we cleaned them, we inspected them, and they still looked brand new. It was THAT good. They also made an engine oil additive that contained Teflon, whenever dad got a new car, in it would go. Straight away. When we rebuilt an engine, for any reason, the bores were clean. Clean enough to eat off. It was magical stuff. I can still vaguely remember each products containers. & for the life of me, cannot remember their names. The grease was green, in a white tub orange label. Dad bought it in the early 90's. And always meant to go & get more. It was produced locally, up here in QLD in thornlands. Can't remember the company that made it. It was only small & presume it's out of business now, being so long since we bought it....... What products do you remember that were really good & would like to know where it could be now if it's back in production?
