Default KUGA e-Tag placement

Forgive me if this has already been done and dusted before but I am a newby and don't know the ropes yet. My 2012 Ford KUGA (which I love) was built in Europe and I have heard the windscreen has a metallic layer imbedded in the glass. I have placed my e-Tag about an inch below the rear view mirror and it doesn't register on the toll roads in Sydney. My local Ford dealer in Canberra reckons I have placed it correctly but it still doesn't work. I've tried holding it in different places in the car without success. It works fine in our other car and those of the kids. Has anyone else heard of this problem? If so, any advice?
