Journo claims are based on new, tight engines, hand-built to micron tolerance, obviously going to be a bit thirster, so unless you've driven one for a while, put some decent kms on it and/or (in my case) daily commuted, it's hard to appreciate the reality.

FG speedos and odometers seem very accurate, and the bowser doesn't lie.
Apart from the 5.4 Gt engines, FPV made all the 5.4 XR8s from the BA to FG (its even the prefix in the engine #), and I agree 100% with your observation about Jurnos getting new 'Green" (tight) engines, and the tight tolerances. They take over 5000klms to free-up and start show their potential - and even then require a degree of finesse in extracting the best performance. Too much go pedal too soon and they die in the Ar**, get it right and they fly.
