Been wanting to post this up for a while lol it was such a weird experience on Thursday night. You know when your put in a place, by god or for some reason, and you think at this moment in time you can make a difference.
Anyway.. So Thursday night, I was turning into the oporto on Cumberland highway Liverpool and the lights went green the car in front of me went, so did I. I turned my head for a second and he broke hard. So I hit his rear end and we stopped and exchanged details etc.. Anyway this guy had cuts and bruises on his face like he had been in a fight, I asked him if he was okay. He said yeah, " I work in Cronulla Westfield's as an electrician and me and other mate got bashed by a group of aussies today, for being a wog while we were working in the back area" I was like OMG I cant believe this, this is insane. Then he started saying all the non aussies in the west have to stick to gether and bash the "aussies up" and he was going to find some tonight to get revenge.. I was totally dumb struck mate, I was like I felt so sorry for this bloke. Imagine that some one made you feel bad, because of the way you looked. I wanted to give the bloke a hug! But I spoke to him and said mate, you take the anger out on someone else it will just get worse, it’s a cycle. We had a brief chat and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I felt disgusted inside mate, it was the most sickening feeling I have ever had! I called him the next day and it ended up that he didn’t end up going out looking for trouble and his mate just did the usual.. This Australia day was the only one where I couldn’t identify with the flag, I didn’t know what happened to the country I love.. Its strange all we hear is about "race" and "Religion" what about "love" and "unity", its so easy you can hate with one reason - "difference" but loving takes abit more, but is so much better in the long run, safety, enjoyment and fulfilment.. When some one says "hate", I guess we cant sit by anymore we have to fight it.. I could have ignored the bloke when he said he was going to bash the aussies up but I didn’t.. I wish Howard would seriously spend money on national identity and bring the country together, instead of the millions on work choices! I know we are the majority but unfortunately the minority of ignorance has bigger voices and may polarise the majority! |
