The lads are at it again, this time in one of Canada's northernmost towns, Resolute. The gateway to the Magnetic North Pole, Resolute is considered one of the coldest inhabited places in the world. In this episode, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May take part in one of their most ambitious challenges to date. Starting in Resolute, they will race each other across approximately 650 kilometres of treacherous frozen ocean and fields of giant ice boulders to the Magnetic North Pole.

After recovering from his devastating 288 mile per hour crash in the jet-engined Vampire, Richard talks about his jet-car experience and the terrifying accident which very nearly cost him his life. The Jaguar XKR is taken through its paces and the team set off on a new challenge. With a bee in his bonnet, Jeremy sets out to prove to a local council that it only takes 24 hours to resurface a 1.5 mile stretch of road, not five days as predicted by the council. While James closes the road and sets up the detour for local residents, Jeremy and Richard try their hand at roadworks.
