I had a 265 Valiant once which had a std carby on it. At the bottom of the carby it had a metal plug which was soldered in .Mine for some reason started to leak. I pulled it out and siliconed it in. Fast forward a few weeks , the car was running like a dog...
To the mechanics , new plugs , new leads , new dizzy cap, rotor button , timing done , drain fuel tank ,still no good . Pull the carby down , silicone in the Jets !!! Doh !!! I had to own up to my stupidity , never use silicone near petrol , dissolves nicely....
