Default Quick Transmission Question

G'day,

I have a pretty good feeling the XR's transmission is looking at taking a permanent vacation, and I'd like to organize something before that happens so...

Is the transmission on Fortes/Fairmonts etc interchangeable with the transmission on XR's? And if so, will I lose the Adaptive Shift functionality, or is it ECU governed?

Cheers
