Hi there,
I just bought a AUIII XR8 Pursuit Ute. 64,000km's. Stunning vehicle! I used to work for Ford when these were coming off the assembly line, and always wanted one. My only issue is gearbox related. It is a manual Tremec T5. This vehicle has had ongoing transmission issues since new, starting with excessive rollover noise (gear noise when clutch not engaged), and had work done under warranty as follows; Input Bearing Replaced. The new Transmission is a BA Tremec T5, and required a custom tailshaft. It still has excessive rollover noise (I can live with it), but has a low pitched mechanical droning noise, intermittently, when 1st or reverse is selected. There is no vibration associated with the noise. No performance issues, except the odd rough shift, any gear. McInerney Ford advised the Tranmission conversion isn't the best they've seen and pointed out the modification required to the cross member to fit the different gearbox could be better. Does anyone know a workshop that has experience with T5's, and could help me out with repairs if required or advice? I work FIFO in Newman, and only home 6 days a month. Obviously I want to spend that time driving the car not shopping around for a good shop, or getting buggered around by a bad one...... Also, anyone with an XR6/8 RH Headlight assembly for sale, please contact me Best regards, Gerald. |
