Default 2l problem

has anyone had there timing belt want to slip off i have put a mild crow cam in it new belt new spring and tensioner the engine feels tighter then it should when turning it over i dont have my cam spec sheet anymore and was thinking valve clearances might be wrong they have been set to the same as a stock cam which a mechanic told me to do but i was thinkning maybe they should be different?
