Guys tell me if this is common in the auto industry these days.
my chick has a 2003 Toyota Echo. a common car with the 'legendary' toyota reliability built in.... so lately it has developed a rattle/whine in the engine bay. take it to trusty mechanic and he advises that the harmonic balancer is stuffed. guess what? there isnt one available in AUSTRALIA, according to toyota. 8 week wait to come from japan. when i dropped my Mbike last year i scratched some bling on it, the part was ordered from japan, via my dealer, and in the country in 10 days. i would expect a 70's model jag or Yank tank to wait that long for a part.....
