Default Damn vandals, radio antenna replacement help?

Some idiot decided one of his last acts for 2011 would be to tear the antenna off of my AU. It is a power unit that wouldn't go all the way down, still worked otherwise and there is no excuse for such thoughtlessness. But I digress...

I looked in my Max Ellery manual under the body section and it had the helpful sentence "If necessary remove radio antenna." Yeah, thanks.

Looking at the car though it appears that I could remove the top fender/wing/guard bolts and the metal should be flexible enough for me to get in there. Getting the antenna out may be another matter.

Has anyone done this procedure without having to remove the front bumper cover and the fender? How did you do it?

Here is a picture of a Ford power antenna that appears to have a bracket on the bottom. I'll probably fix it with the rope and antenna replacement bits.
