Default Central Coast - Possible transmission issues

Hey everybody,

I'm currently on the Central Coast for a few days of last night from Melbourne.
But to get here I had to drive during 40.C weather and I don't think think the transmission generally liked it.
Now it feels like it only drives in 3rd or 4th gear. Not great for picking up speed from 0-110km

Just wondering if anyone who I could see on short notice or anyone who could help. Mechanics, ff members, etc.

It's been hard to explain the problem as I'm currently on my phone.
Most importantly the car is a 2000 ford fairmont

thanks
