Default Re: turbo timers, which ones are good?

The OP admits he is a newbie and has come to forums for advice. Ergo, the onus is on us in-the-know fellas to put him on the path to vehicular goodness. Accordingly:

mitch_s,

turbo timers are last century tech for old bangers like Nissan Silvias, VL turbos and Cordia Turbos. You dont need one on your Falcon. The thermo syphon (if my memory is right) will let the heat out of the turbo after u shut down the engine. In addition, if the ECU thinks the water temp is too high it also leaves the radiator fans running (this is a factory setting) for about 30 seconds after u power down.

Turbo timers are not needed and a waste of money and may well attract laughter if you announce you've put one in a Falcon to any normal Falcon turbo owner. Trawl this website and the other xr6 turbo dedicated website (can that be mentioned here?) and u will see 1000 posts advising the same.
