Default KN Fuel Gauge Problem

Hey everyone,

been on the forums for a while, but i've been a bit quiet since selling my XR8 ute. Miss the old girl.

anyway i've just bought a 99 KN laser lxi sedan from my sister that she's had for the past 9 years and i'm having a problem with the fuel gauge (she has had it checked out but to no avail).

I fill the tank completely and it says it's full. it gets down to about 2/3 of a tank then the fuel gauge just drops down and says it's empty. then creeps up to half way then back down to empty with the light on again even though the tank is more than half full.

Does anyone know what the problem is???

And on a side note, i'm guessing it's not a problem seeing as there is definitely fuel in the tank but the light coming on is only an indicator and isn't hooked up to the fuel pump telling it that the tank is empty is it?

THanks

Brett
