Default 2008 Focus Cooling Fan

Hi all,

My Focus is a 2008 European Model made in South Africa.

I was stuck in traffic a few days ago, the car beeped and the LCD showed "ENGINE HIGH TEMPERATURE". Temp guage was just entering the red zone. I quickly switched the engine off, checked the coolant levels, the overflow tank was still fairly full. I restarted the engine and turned on the heater, and fan onto full to help cool the coolant.

I plugged the OBD dongle into it, and the Torque app reports fault code P0480. Cooling Fan 1 Control Circuit.

I've taken the car to a workshop, who tested the fan with 12v supply and it works fine, but I'm unsure as how to proceed from now. Has anybody had this issue before, and knows how to fix, or should I take it to Ford and let them diagnose it?

I'm pretty sure it's going to cost me a few hundred, but that's a bit of a problem for me.

Could it be something as simple as a blown fuse, or burnt out connector?

I'm still driving it at the moment for important trips only, and have the OBD Dongle hooked up with monitoring the Coolant Temp.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
