Default Smartshield and Engine Management

Hi guys. I'm seeking any advice on my 2001 AUII, 6 cyl, auto ute. I recently tried to jump start it using the correct cables with a resistor or whatever on them a I've had the same problem before from putting the earth to terminal instead of the block.
Now on start up, after connecting fully charged battery, the instrument cluster says BASE. When I turn the key to start I have all bright dash lights, but no engine turn over. I've checked starter and it's fine. When I previously had the same problem, I'm pretty sure that after diagnosis comp was connected the mechanic went through some sort of sequence with the key an all sorted.
Please help guys. I'm on a farm so it'll cost an arm and a leg to get a tow. Plus my mate lent me a car, but it's a Torago bus. And I think my dogs prefer the ute.
