Hi all,
Had my first track day since the Shockworks coilovers and front brake upgrade at "the island" last week.....it had been a while since id been there (December last year)......way too long!! I have been there 3 times and had only managed to crack the 2 minute mark on one lap ever before with the stock suspension and better DBA rotors and pads to the front with stock rear brakes. With factory suspension, trying to attack the fast corners was an exercise in understeer it just never wanted to turn in and stay in above 160k's. With the Shockworks gear, it was planted and smooth, could really stay on the power through Siberia, and especially turn 1.....gotta be my favourite corner in the world at that track. Pulling the car up from 240 at the end of the straight to "try" and keep the car above 170k into turn 1 was awesome!!!!! Anyway every session was consistently faster, I reckon 3-4 seconds quicker than before the suspension went in. Every session laps below 2 minutes, I was happy with my best lap of 1:57.45 for the day. I think my ****y little stock rear rotors are letting me down and I reckon I went through 4-5mm of front pad. The shockworks front brakes were excellent, I am going to be testing Brett's full race pads on it next time as I had the street/track pad Which still held up well!! All in all, I am not a great driver by any means, so I reckon that with a few more goes at it and maybe some wider wheels to help get the power down out of corners better I will get quicker. Absolutely awesome day, and the Shockworks gear is as we all know by now....AWESOME!! Nath
