Default Are Knock sensor & Limp mode linked?

I recently had a knock on startup remedied by a oil filter change & am now wondering, " if the knock sensor picked up knocking at speed, say 100 to 130kph would this cause limp mode to come on & make it feel like you've just run out of petrol?? Thanks for any help! George
