Default Clunk in drivetrain?

I have just bought a AUII XR8 Ute and there is a 'nice' clunk in the drivetrain, just as the clutch engages. I have checked the uni joints, but they were fine. Has anybody had anything like this before.

Also, the gear lever (manual) seems sloppy - any ideas?
