I think a lot of people believe "give way to the right” over rides everything. Round abouts are designed to move traffic through intersecting roads quicker than traffic lights can. When people stop at a round about because they see a car approaching from the right it slows traffic down. If it is safe to do so you can enter a round about before a car entering on your right and as you are already in the round about, you have right of way.

Of course then you get; tooted, lights flashed or followed and abused, because people believe you have "cut them off".
