Hey all!
After having an in car oricom for a year and a bit it has just about given up. It's seen some vicious corrugations and plenty of dust and whatnot. It doesn't send or receive much at all anymore. So needless to say it's due for replacement. A lot of my friends run GME, and I'm very impressed with their performance. For UHF it has the best send and receive I've come across. I've been running budget Oricom for years now and this is the only time I've kept a unit for more than a year (and it's died) but my signal has always been overpowered by those running a GME. So, to the point. GME is not cheap. Uniden look like they have great units similar to GME but cheaper. I used to have a 2w handheld uniden when I lived in Sydney that picked up transmissions all over town and I loved it. How do Uniden UHF radios compare to GME? The people I know either run GME or Oricom so can't ask anyone first hand !
