Post Nissan Titan For Australia ??

"Nissan is looking to upsize its presence in the pick-up market with the full-size Titan under evaluation for introduction to Australia.
The head of the newly formed Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi light commercial vehicle alliance, Ashwani Gupter, has revealed the brand is studying where and when it can introduce Titan around the world.
The Titan is a bigger pick-up than the Navara, with a higher payload and towing capacity, and competes against the likes of the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado and Ram 2500 in the US market.
“We are studying the markets for a global application,” Gupter told Australian media in Japan overnight. “For sure there is a market, the markets are growing not only in the US but outside the US. Now we are considering many markets for the global application.”
Gupter said the decision to expand the Titan outside its traditional US market is based on the popularity of the smaller, one-tonne Navara around the world.
“The full-size pick-up market was only in the US,” he explained. “But what we see is the customers are evolving in the other markets from the one-tonne to the full-size. This we can already see from our market intelligence and customer training. And now we are studying when and how [we can introduce Titan], this is the point.”
The Navara is currently sold in 133 markets around the world and Gupter said Nissan was studying all of them for the possible introduction of Titan.
“Truck lovers love trucks, so all the markets you have trucks we are studying,” he said.
“Truck customers are passionate. They are not buying only functionality, they are buying emotional functionality. And to buy emotional functionality you need to have a passion, and when you have a passion for one-tonne you have a passion for full-size.”
While the process is only in its early stages, and as such Gupter was unable to give a timeframe on when the Titan could arrive in Nissan’s Australian showrooms, he did confirm that the switch to right-hand drive would not be a major obstacle.
Any right-hand drive model would be built direct from the Nissan factory, with Gupter ruling out any aftermarket conversion operation, such as the American Special Vehicles business that modifies Ram trucks in Australia.
US specification Titan models have a towing capacity of more than 4400kg, better than the Navara’s 3500kg rating. But with a payload capability of more than 850kg in the most capable model the Titan is similar to the Navara."
