Rubbish, this is an urban myth. Some dealers fitted 327 V8s because they were a straight swap & the Chev/Pontiac 327 engine was easily available thru spare parts, but they were never factory fitted.

The Monaro GTS 327 was homologated for racing & as such the engine numbers were well documented & were only used in that model.
