Default Work goals

Hi

What did you people experience to know it may be time to change jobs or get out of hospitality or both to something with easier hours and what did you do to try hang on until the time was right or you had another option.

As most of you know am wanting to get out hospitality and cut back on weekend work but at moment am stuck and don’t have any other option but am working on it and taking action slowly.

Just feel after 13 years that it’s time to start thinking about it and can understand why owners have put place up for sale.
If you choose to stay on but no longer than you have to what is a way to leave once you have another option or start to get too much part time work and have to leave.

You said before that if new owners want to keep you on that you just say thanks for offer but not at moment in a position to take it or thanks for offer but you’re only available in certain areas and ask if there’s positions in that.

Just had enough and not going to make 20 years as much as it’s ok because have goals that am wanting to follow and want to do things while am able to and the hospitality is just too hard and want to get out.

Can understand why so many people left after lockdown and only being back for less than a week and if it wasn’t for owners then would have done exactly that

With organising a work party, how would you get chance to organise a work party when you are not either a manager or on a social committee, until you are able to change jobs and be a manager or get better hours and be able to have more time to take on more things.

It seems in a small business the employer does it and in a bigger business someone different each time does it.

Most ideal solution is change jobs but for some it isn’t yet a option and some might be trying to hang on just that little bit longer.

Most of you know place is for sale and as much as we will miss everyone am realising that it’s time for us all to move on.

Second best thing people would do is have own place or just do something different for a job but some of us are hanging out to be able to buy and not pay as much rent as to buy and be able to do what you want to place.

Have started taking action but accepting that not everything is going to happen overnight.

Why did older generations just deal with a job they didn’t want, do you think it’s because they grew up keeping same thing 20/30 years or is it because they grew up in a time where you repaired things and not always throw them out every time they start wearing out with jobs being one of them.

Also how do you ask for better hours with same pay until you can change jobs which you’re trying to do right thing and try hang on.

How do you ask for a market day off to take stuff to local market to sell.

Owners neice is only 16 and she’s already following her goals and am 35 and still waiting and just trying to do right thing and hang on a bit longer.

What is reason why so many in last couple years gave notice and left hospitality causing a shortage and why industry is only operating on skeleton team these days.

As much as we are all going to miss each other when shop sells am accepting that it’s time for us all to move on

Am not going to make 20 years but hope to make atleast 15 as much as am liking it at moment, just have goals that am wanting to follow.

Plus am at stage in work life where am wanting a new chapter and just trying to do best with what have got until then.
