I've had Ford Aus replace cars (as you're well aware of) and issue refunds to me which has been great. The dealership dusted its hands off me as well.

More reason for Ford to scrap the dealer network and just sell directly. Keep the profits of the sales and then they'll have more money to deal with issues (and loan cars).

Because alot of the time the manufacturers are calling the shots from behind the scenes. They have to approve the repairs to start with, many of which in these cases come and go and when it comes to the dealer are not showing. Dealers have to fault before they can get Ford to process.
