Ford has issued a recall for almost 19,000 Mustang sports cars.

The recall affects vehicles built between 2014 and 2017 for a potentially dangerous issue.
Ford has recalled its popular Mustang sports car.

A recall notice issued by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts says there is a potential fault with the wiring harness in the boot lid.

The manufacturing defect may cause the rear view camera to malfunction, the satellite radio reception to drop out and the boot release to stop working.
It is a favourite of Aussie drivers looking for affordable V8 performance.
.

If the rear view camera does not display continuous images then it could increase the risk of an accident causing serious injury or death to pedestrians.

Ford will contact affected owners in writing and request they make an appointment with their local dealership for an inspection and repair free of charge.

Owners wanting to know more are urged to contact their local dealership or Ford’s customer relationship centre on 133 673.

The Ford Mustang is a favourite of Aussie drivers and is the best selling sports car in the country by a wide margin.

Ford will fix the issue for free.

It is one of the few vehicles that remains powered by a V8 petrol engine sending power to the rear wheels, which is the same formula that made Australian-made favourites the Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon so popular.
