This might sound trivial, but I wanted to know when Falcons changed their w/wiper arm colour.
With Holdens, all of the early cars were chrome plated. This changed in 1968 (HK) to a satin silver "anti-glare" finish. This was to comply with upcoming ADRs aiming at reducing glare in the driver's view. This changed again in 1976 (HX) to a matt black finish. I'm not sure when Falcon changed from chrome to satin, but I assume it was sometime in the late 60s, around the same time as Holden. The question I have is, when did Falcon change to matt black ? I always assumed it was either XC or at the XC 1/2 update in 1978. Problem is the sales brochures are no help, the 1978 Ford Cars brochure shows some Falcons with silver & some with matt black. Are these mistakes or did different models change at different times. Dr Terry. |
