Default Finally something educational on the internet

I finally found something worth while on the internet while browsing a video site, i came across this.

http://www.glumbert.com/media/multiply

Now i was never overly good at maths, but this is super simple, i just did 5 or so, and didnt get it any wrong.

Have a look

I agree with the last method, nothing can compete with a good calculator.
When in real life are you going to do it by hand?

There is a chance that you may find yourself more than 10 metres away from a calculator or an excel spreadsheet... perish the thought.

When your helping a 9yo with homework and she says "why do I have to do it in my head when you use a calculator?"

and also on some tests and alike you cant use a calculator.

and it'll be good to say to your kids that, we never had a calculator in our mobile phone-hairdryer-bicycle-personal organizer-virtual assistant's back when we were growing up.

Not bragging or anything, but I've never needed to resort to a calculator or methods like in the clip.

That said, it is clever

Every time I need to.

I wonder how many times you have been scammed with incorrect change at the pub or where ever because you can't work out the price of 3 beers and 3 rums and how much change from $50?

It's similar in theory to how a Chinese abacus works.

I,m not sure, but I think thats an old method known as "Napier's Rods".
Learned something similar in primary school , well before calculators existed.

If your knocking back 3 beers and and 3 rums, everything would look like $50
