Certainly seems odd that noone will even consider replacing it. In all honesty i probably wouldnt attempt fixing it yourself, cos if you do try and it damages it even more then you're really stuffed. Know any solicitors? Gte them just to draft a letter suggesting it would be in the company's best interests to refund and rectify the situation, then send it to the store you bought it from. Failing that, try going round there one day with a mob of big black men with angry expressions on their faces, and ask to speak to the manager. :

In my shop I went out of my way to make sure this never happened. If I got a faulty part I contacted the supplier and returned it, for a replacement. At the same time, I never opened the stock and frigged with it, then scribbled on the box and sold it as new.

I noticed your complaint has made it to the front page of notgoodenough.org.
Thats got to be a start. Even if it is under Ignored.

hmmm they do seem to have a decent response...however, the fact that intel makes millions of CPU's doesnt mean shit in this case....all it means that in mass production, shit happens. that point would be more powerful if they made 3 CPUs a day by hand.

Personally I'd stop dealing with the shop itself and go higher, they've already had bad media exposure on NGE, I doubt that head office itself would want further bad media exposure.
Get the name of the person that you speak to and make sure that you speak to that same person all the time. I know I'll be avoiding the disc shop at all costs now, as I'm sure will many others, not just on the forum but also those that get the NGE newsletter. How the hell do you break ONE pin when putting the CPU in the socket, especially one that's not on the corner? :gren: Keep fighting Seano! ing_sm
