My old man left me and my brother in his ute when I was 3-4, late 70's. I don't know if the ute was in gear but I managed to start it and pushed it through a Torana and a couple of fences, finishing in a friends garden shed just as the old man dove in and slammed the brakes on.

Kids have been doing this long before and after I did and they now see fit to blame that ad??? WTF

I was 5 years old and jumping around my dads XA falcon while he was at the post office. I jumped into the front passanger seat and by accident knocked the column shift auto into neutral. Would of been ok if dad remembered to apply the handbrake. Rolled backwards down the hill untill the Land Rover stopped me. :hihi:

My Mum & Dad left myself, my brother & sister, in his Commer work van while they were in a shop.
The van was in front of the shops, angle parked, and Dad had left it in reverse. He'd taken the keys with him but....
The starter button with these was at the back of the engine cover in between the 2 front seats.
Thinking it was a fun game I pushed the starter button and sure enough the van slowly backed out of the carpark, across the road and stopped just before a railroad track when the battery run out of enough power to turn it over!
I can still remember the panic on Mum & Dads faces when they came out of the shop to find us gone, as we could see them from where we stopped about 50 yards away, but I especially remember the hiding Dad gave me when we got home!!! :
This was around 1964, so parents were allowed to beat kids then!
Needless to say Dad got one of his mechanic mates to fix the starter to it wouldn't work unless the key was on

It is so annoying to think that so many people get so wound up about things that they must complain about every little thing on tv and cause such a fuss. Get a life FFS! If a child gets in a car and starts it up and causes mayhem, that probably has more to do with lack of supervision or just plain bad luck than any friggin ad on tv!!!

I think Australians sometimes whinge more than the Poms do!

My 2 year old steers the Charade up the driveway, turns it off and tries to put it in nuetral and pull the handbrake on. Then again, he can also unlock and put the correct key in the igntion in the Verada! Yes I'm sorting a brake/shifter interlock for it, and what ever replaces the Charade.

Surely you know how people work.

People will almost always look for somebody else to blame for their own stupidity.

A lady @ McDonald's burnt her mouth because the coffee was "too hot" and successful got a $10,000 settlement. I mean, what the hell? If it's hot, DON'T DRINK IT!

Also, a lady was walking through a national park and she approached some wild geese. They attacked her and pecked her leg. She got a leg infection and must have been completely traumatised. So she sued Parks Victoria and got $100,000! They geese are wild! Don't approach them!

Maybe I should enter the Lion enclosure at the Melbourne Zoo and if I get attacked, I'll sue Melbourne Zoo for a few quid.

Based on how our courts work, I reckon I'm about a 92% chance to win.

In terms of the lady, people try to link things to things they see on TV.

As a parent, it is her responsibility to a) protect the child from anything dangerous and b) to always be aware of what their child is doing.

Some people are just morons.

if he had been in a hyundai he would have had to press the brack down to move the gear stick , bit hard for a toddler.
hyundai should have used this to defend their add . shows how crazy some of our censership laws are : . i thought it was the best add hyundai have done. kinda cute.

My brother did similar when he was about 4 or 5. He got into the Valiant auto (it was a long time ago) parked on the side of a hill (ignition on lock, no keys, in Park and handbrake on) and somehow managed to get it rolling downa hill at Dutchies at Port Stephens. Lucky the wheels were turned and he got past the VW parked in front. My sister (typically) started screaming and tried to stand in front of the car to stop it. I jumped in and put my foot on the brake.
