Was getting a rumbling sound coming from the car when i was traveling at speeds from 40kph to 90kph. replaced front hubs 1000k's ago and also replace carrier bearings to rear axel at same time. Also replaced brake pads.
now is a deep scratching sound from 20kph through to 90kph. sounds fine at 100kph. Car has done 209000k's. Gearbox replaced at 185000k's and has been serviced ok. Any ideas come to mind?

Is it high pitched, and coming from the rear? Could be the handbrake shoes dragging on the inside of the discs.

nah, is not high pitched but more of a deep scratching noise.
Thought it could be the handbrake but have used it while driving and noise hasn't changed. Do u think it could be a tail shaft problem? Noise is still there when at speed but in neutral. Auto box.

tail shaft problem? you'd feel that more then hear it. is it straight line, cornering or both that you hear it the most? about where do you think its coming from? it is possible that it is the auto, possibly out of or low on oil. yes, that does happen :lookedat: perhaps a dodgy bearing/hub, but you would be able to tell as you would only hear it more as your cornering.
