hey guys just need to know if this is true or not, my mate said if a car is older then 15 yrs i dont need compliance?? i really cant see that being right any info would be good cheers.

You need to check with your local RTA as to what the registration requirements are for each particular car. Basically if there are no compliance plates on the car, you cannot register it unless you get an engineer to certify its safety. Rules vary depending on the state also. |

there is a limit. cars prior to a certain year( not sure what year). before compliance plates were fitted.

It would be around 1972 when the ADRs really started to come in (there were some for seatbelts etc prior). Perhaps where the 15yr thing came from was importing a car? If you want to import a post-1989 car it is a whole lot harder than an older one
