Was talking to me mate who works at holden in Adelaide and he was saying about the new Dunnydore wagon, apparently it has a very similar shape to Chryslers 300C wagon. I myself dont really like the wagon version of the 300C but in sedan form I think it looks pretty cool.
The rear of the wagon has a smallish type look unlike the last model which sort of flaired into a balloon shape. Has anyone seen any spy shots of the red team wagon? Link to 300C wagon. http://www.autocult.com.au/Image.aspx?id=843 |

If it has the same roof line as the 300C wagon then Holden better hope nobody over 6 foot tall ever sits in the back. I'm 6'2" and I hit my head on the roof of the 300C wagon sitting in the back. They look cool though lol.

300c is known to have poor rear room toward the rear...in my experiences with it (that is sitting in the back of one)...compared to a falcadore they are quite cramped but if you really wanted one then room wouldnt be the deciding factor.

I bet the VE Commodore (while maybe not for everyone) has a nicely balanced transition from back door to rear side window because I think Holden have always done well with this look in the past. |

On another note, while the yanks may have started the whole large wagon thing in the 50's, and the 300c may well be a retro incarnation of that era, there was definitely a time when we in Australia had the best styled Wagons to choose from in the world. The 70’s was king of the wagons, when it was ok to stick Mum and Dad and 6 fighting siblings and their dog and frisbee into what ever crevice was left with little or no seat belt protection for dare I say it, a trip from Adelaide to Melbourne or Brisbane to Sydney.
The 70's saw the Ford XA-XD Holden HQ-HZ and the Chrysler VH-CM. No wagon has come close in style since except perhaps the VT-VZ Commodore IMO. The 300c goes along way to addressing the short fall in a reasonably well designed and styled wagon IMO. Off topic did any one see the American Hotrod episode this week? That 1960 Mercury "woody wagon" was just awesome. While the wagon was a bit ostentatious to start with, it sure as hell had all the right lines to make it a classic show car after it was finished. |
