Torque converter

I have a question you guys may be able to help me with. When I am driving at about 80 Klm Hour my cars torque converter kept the car surging as if the torque converter was coming in and going out. In a previouse thread I talked about putting a new alternator in my XR8 and now the car doesn't seem to be doing it. Is the torque converter controlled electronically? because that would explain why the battery voltage may make a difference. I thought torque converters worked by the load on the car (hi load maximum torque low load minimum torque)

Yep, the BTR is an electronic box. The converter locks up based on throttle position and road speed as you expect but the actual signal to lock it up is done by an electronic current.

Thanks Casper. Ford mechanics told me a few years ago when I complained about this that the only reason I can hear and feel the revs change was because I had a sports exhaust. Seems like I was being misled again.
