Default To force or not to force... that is the question..

Still contemplating the forced induction route...

That supercharger kit i was looking forward to.. But it's just been too long waiting!!

I have been contemplating the SNORT stage 4 kit for quite some time.. they say that they support 600-700hp which i really do not think i have any intentions of going over

The kit is 5k, i will get it done at crescent motorsport in liverpool..

So its pretty much a toss up between this and getting a stage 3 head + cam, edit + tune, 2700 hi stall + LHM which will be around 4k or so..

CONFUSED GODDAMMIT

With the snort kit, what else would i need? What do u rkn the total cost would be to get it in and get my engine upto shape to support it?

Im hoping not over $10k

On the snort webite, it says you really only need a "ACL race series engine rebuild kit", about $1600, easily supports 300rwkw or more I think.

Im still in cyberspace aswell with engine mods, should I go for a 13 NA, supercharge? turbo? argh it hurts lol..

AFAIK the ACL race series has high compression pistions not what you want for a blown set up

The Snort home page clearly states that the ACL race series piston "can be ordered with a 20cc dish in the piston top which reduces compression a little and makes the engine capable of withstanding higher boost pressures"

Check out "Nuts and Guts" which goes on to say that this ACL piston with shotpeened factory rods can handle up to 15psi and 370rwkw.

I'm pretty much sold on Snort i think.. Just deciding stage 3 or stage 4 now.

Not looking forward to the insurance quote tho..

At least i turn 25 in less than a year Maybe i will insure it under my fiancee's name.. She is nearly 30. Just hope we don't break up, hahaha

Besides the kit itself, what else will i need and what do u guys reckon it will cost all up?

Here's what i know so far: (taken from past threads, some of which were over a year old, so if there is better, more recent info.. please advise )

Basically, i am hoping for around 250rwkW @9psi, daily driver

Snort kit (Stage 3 or 4) ---- $4000 - $5000
Intercooler Piping ---- $????
Fuel Pump (Walbro 255 intake fuel pump) ---- $170
Injectors (Ford motorsport EV2 42lb (440cc) injectors) ---- $400
Rising Rate Reg (unsure of brand/make) ---- $250
EMS (EMS Stinger 4424) ---- $????
Dump pipe ---- $300
Labour ---- $2500

So all up, prolly looking at around $10k

Anything else i haven't included? Would i need a tranny cooler? It is an auto..

Add installation costs, engineering, and possibly bigger brakes again. Intercooler piping is probably around $600 or so. You can get a Stinger for around $1100 or so delivered. Check out a store on ebay called purchasenet. I think it's these guys http://www.purchasenet.com.au

You'll prob need your battery relocated to the boot as well. I have an excel sheet with all my costs and projected bits needed.

As per your sig, have a chat to Joe. He'll fill you in with any missing bits you need. He gave me some good advice on getting past the emissions test easy.
