Well thought i would begin a build thread on the car.
Things have come a long way since May 2004. The car was ordered in March with premium interior and ICC, sunroof, mats and automatic. We had never seen a car in the color ENVI, we had only seen a spoiler at the FPV Day 2004 (where we decided to buy the new car ) painted in ENVI. I was in at the Local Ford dealer the next day on my lunch break, ordering the car. We picked the car up on the 18th of may 2004 Waiting seems to be the story of our lives when it comes to the car!!! It seemed to take for ever with color matching problems at the factory. Anyway we had big plans for the car- 18" BA XR rims and lowering and tinted windows. As you probably know things havent turned out quite that simple We are a bad combination- both ford lovers and both keen to do more and more to the car- with no-one to talk the other one out of it all. MINUTES AFTER PICKING THE CAR UPand then it was straight to my (Narelle's) parents to change the wheels A couple of days later- Lowered, new rims and tint The Engine Bay with its first mod- TYPHOON Spark plug cover Last edited by XR-ENVI; 12-11-2007 at 06:01 PM. |

One day we had a bit of a play around with some rims..........and ended up with them ( in this pic the rims are jsut sitting in front of the car)
And in December 2004 the car entered its first show- At the ford Discovery Centre in Geelong where we took away our first trophies- Contemporary Top Exterior and 2nd in Contemporary Top Car. And so it begins!!! |

The bug had bitten. We then put on the APS exhaust system and Typhoon Cold air intake. After the Geelong All Ford Day we returned to where it all began- The FPV open day, and it was then we decided the car needed to be different to the rest and thoughts were turned to the engine bay.
By June 2005 we entered the car into Auto Show Off at Jeffs Shed with an updated rocker cover. Here we met our next doom..........we got talking to Zac From Climax Custom Airbrushing and more ideas were planted!!!!!!!!!!!! It was all over!!!! |

After driving with just the exhaust and intake done, overboost was a problem and we decided a computer mod was needed but with all things it didnt stop there!!! Vlave springs rods and fuel pump were added to the list. But there was something not right with a friends engine, who had simialr mods- he put a rod through his block which prompted a compression test on our engine. Look what we found.......All this from only have a 2nd CAI and exhaust system.

man those rods are bloody weak looking, once the new rods are in they will match the rest of the car, tough.

Edit: should have said injectors, not rods up there
So added to the list was a set of atomic billet rods, and also a bigger intercooler was found and given the nod to go in. Oh, and with expected increase in power, we were advised that strengthening of the auto would be well worth the money too. SO of course..we did it, and added an auto cooler as well. All this netted us a healthy power increase to 297.7 rwkw........damn, so close to that magical 300 rwkw......you guessed it, it wouldnt stop there!!! |

WHilst the engine was out, apart and being strengthned and more goodies added we decided to do a little bit of decorating under the hood. WE had the rocker cover airbrushed, the airbox cover and computer cover and fuse box covered airbrushed, and had the thermostat housing, intake manifold and timing case cover polished to add a bit of bling!!!
Each show seemed to bring a new addition to the car. WE had definately been bitten hard!!!! The car debuted its new look at the AME SHow in october 2005. No the best pics but this look didnt last too long as it wasnt long till the next show on the calender |

2006 bought us again to the Geelong All Ford day, and as stated earlier we were keen to crack the 300rwkw. So to help us achieve this we bolted on a set aof Di-FIllipo Crossover pipes thanks to craig at ACE and had the unichip retuned.....after a few fitment issues with the pipes which craig so nicely helped iron out we hit the big one.
WOOOOOHHHHOOOOO 311rwkw and another show and antoher change in look of the car. We started to go way out this year with a bit more effert into the set up of the car and this can be seen in the pictures. Thanks to the e-series club for letting us join their display and we were wrapped to walk away with our most treasured trophey to date- BEST XR6 FALCON which was presented to Narelle by Mark Winterbottom!!!! |

We had a look around at some jewellry stores for an engagment ring for Narelle and came home with a stereo system for the car!!!!
With changes to the audio system of the car we also deceided to make a few minor changes to the interior of the car, adding some scaled highlights on the door handles, above the glove box, around the shifter and on the back of the centre console. Jamie spent hours and hours designing and installing the gear in the boot and wiring up the new componants to the aplpine vehicle hub, including the playstation running on factory screen that was hidden in the glove box. The boot turned out even better than first thought with more dragon skin highlights and a useable boot and easy access still for spare wheel and jack and wheel brace |

We decided changes to the air intake were needed in order to gain a few more rwkw so we had a custom airbox set-up installed and a stainless pipe made up by Luke at Gaugeworks. We swapped the airbox and battery to shorten the intake track. This along with a retune (still running the unichip) enabled us to reach 338.9rwkw.

The addition of the new pipe removed some of the bling from under the bonnet so we thought we had better brighten it up again. We had the turbo polished, the new pipework polished, the raidiator mounts chromed and added a few polished stainless bolts here and there. (somewhere along the line we also got rid of the engine lifting brackets) We had the throttle body polished, turned the injectors around to tidy up the wiring and the new airbox was airbrushed, this time a bit more evil.!!!

In April the car made its first trip to Calder Park where it ran an 11.8 second quarter mile at 118MPH
Transmission issues limited the night to three runs but we were happy with the result.....but will be back |

IN june 2007 the car featured in Performance Ford Magazine and this is the last time that the car has been seen. It is away on an ever extending life changing holiday, having cosmetic surgery, brain surgery, heart surgery and will hopefully be back again real soon.
