He was on his way to the burnout pad on Sunday and he gave it a couple of herbs and security stopped him and tried to grab his keys and broke his tacho and threw a couple of punches so Gary threw one back and they reefed him out of the car and somewhere amidst it all his drivers door got damaged. Or something to that effect anyways.

I heared about this somewhere else. That the floor got dinted where the tacho landed..

Security sounded like they were on a bit of a power trip the whole weekend, and to do that to Myers was disrespectful..

I know security were trying their best, but it was very inconsistant.

I did the smallest of skids ever, car only juuust started coming onto boost, got a first and final warning, not 1 minute later Victor smokes down the street, and i asked the same security guard if he will give Bray a warning too? He laughed at me. Later on that night i saw the same guard letting full line lockers go through......

It will be interesting to see how many regulars don't go back next year. At the end of the day it is a car show/event. They should just totally ban alchohol i think. What about having the "pub" parts just outside the main complex like in the back car park, Everyone has a wrist ban so there is your pass out. That way security can determine who is to nailed to be horsing around near all that beautiful machinery.

Oh please. It could have escalate for a number of reasons.

1. Security on a power trip.

2. Security gave an instruction to not get carried away and got the "Do you know who I am?" response.

3. Any number of reasons

This hero worship of guys like myers is getting a bit too much. He's a modified car owner who does a good burn (and gets paid well to be at the event)....nothing more.

Thats disgraceful! Who wants to start a "chic henry is a tool club"?

Sure gary myers broke the rules and should be dealt with like any one else, but i dont think physical abuse and damage to one's car is appropiate!

there has been heaps of bad reports about summernats this year and its only going to get worse when the premoter turns a blind eye to all the drunk fools who abuse women and damage entrants cars. Does he even care about his patrons or thier cars?

Chic henry wont ban alchol because he makes too much money out of it! for the premoter to down play what goes on at summernats these days is shocking!

/End of another rant, I'm angry today.

You're kidding right! This thread just had it's life expectancy shortened.

What a childish thing to put into a forum. You need to grow up and get over it.....and at least have the balls to say that sort of rubbish to someone's face......I'm pretty sure you wouldn't.

Alcohol won't be banned (even though i tend to 'sometimes' agree)

Jack Daniels is one of the Main sponsers for Summernats...

There are heaps of stories obviously circulating about what really happened... There are the people who are 'pro myers' saying that it was wrong what security did and there are others who are 'anti myers' saying that he deserved what he got...

Let's hope that Chic can get to the bottom of all this and get on with the task at hand.. Summernats 22

I agree Myers probably had it coming, I was talking about the flat out denial that anything bad happened all weekend by the event promoter.

TZENU said it, alcohol wont be banned because its worth too much money to the event, but it should be limited or only be served after 4pm or something.

Get over it? Would you send your daughter there? I'm ashamed to call myself a car enthusiast becuase of these idiots who go there just to get drunk yell abuse and start fights.

Some mates of mine saw guys in the dyno cell, at 8am, on Sunday, drinking beers......

They need to limit the times alcohol is served, not before 4pm is a great idea. The RSA procedures also need to be followed a tad closer too.......

No he's not. Whilst not being buddies with the guy I have spent time with him at work and in his home and he's a pretty decent bloke with a family just like the rest of us. The event needs to run, security needs to be there and unfortunatley it seems that the grog does too.

The Summernats wouldn't exist without Chic, good bad or ugly, the Nats have been the pinnacle of Street Machining in Australia an millions of people have had an absolute blast there. Worth remembering aye?

Yeah true, I do appreciate his efforts over the last 22 years, but it sounds like the event is going downhill every year.

How can you say that when the standard and number of cars increases all the time?
There has only been two small incidents even spoken about here. You should have been there in the early nineties, you would really have something to moan about then.
This event has been cleaned up and improved vastly in the last ten years.
