Do people collect compliance plates?

Just wondering if people collect compliance plates?

I saw some for sale a while back and wondered at the time if there was a market for plates for collections.

Isn't it illeagal to remove them from a car?

lots of people collect them.mate has over 200 old holden ones on his garage wall, and he buy /swaps them occasionally with other collectors..these days you cant remove them from newer cars as its illegal.
funny watching complete rusted out (no usefull parts left) Monaro two doors on ebay go for thousands,you know there is probably only one reason why,and it has something to do with two door tags and old barn finds that family have hidden years ago for a reason.

I would love to have a collect compliance plates especially any of a GT or coupe.

I am open for donations if any ones have any old compliance plates they don’t need for a GT or coupe ill have them.

I have a set from a car that i wrecked about 15 years ago. When i saw someone advertising plates for sale i wondered if they were of any value. Does anyone know where i might find collectors interested in buying them? Or does anyone have any idea of compliance plate values?

No no point, can you imagine how much they would be worth in 5 years time to someone who needed them..

i got a mate who collects rego stickers of cars.

he has about 5 or more thousand of them in photo albums,

if any one has a heap or wants to help him out pm and you can forward to me to give to him. he would appreciate it, (he is cerebral palsy)

Why would they need them, they are useless, and people should not be trying to buy them with the intentions off ussing them on another vehicle, if it was me I would not sell them, really they are worthless, only good for a place mate or hanging on the wall, they are illegal to use again, and anyone that does reuse them should be brought to justice.

So, yeah, but if you took the metal plate thing off the engine bay of a XY GT or something (like a ridgy didge one), and put it on a fake GT, who's to say that it is the wrong plate?

Anyone who checks the chassis number and dozens other identfiers such as shell and parts differences...
On the surface collecting compliance plates seems harmless, but any plate off anything half valuable usually falls to the temptation of those looking to create an illegal rebody, which in the case of a GT or HO could end up leading to a serious act of fraud and potential jail time if caught...

Best left in your hand's, hang them on your wall and use them as a good talking point when friends come around,,,,,
