I've put a 351 clevo in my te and the new bosch alternator has less ( i think!) connections than the alternator that was on the 6 cyl motor i removed.I've got one of those bloody useless gregorys manuals for te/tf cortinas but it only shows a regulator and not the whole alternator.I also bought a xa/xb/xc workshop manual but that doesnt even show the wire colours!!!!!!! Just to make it harder the wire colours on the te changed mid model! My current bosch alternator has had a new regulator and bearings cos it wasnt charging. It is now but the alt. light on the dash is still on and ive got an extra wire.Any help would be most apreciated as this is holding up me driving my 2 year project.

Mate, give me a call on 0414 891024. I have an ED engine with Mitsubishi alternator running, extra wiring was required. Not sure what your's is like, I have a Ford manual on the TE/TF Cortinas with more explicit wiring diagrams.

does the alt have an inbuilt regulater? if it does there will only 1 spade terminal(instead
of 2) if so unplug the ext regulater get a test light and see which wire goes live when you turn the key on. that wire excites the alt and does the warning light. hook that into the single terminal on alt and it should all be good |
