Default traction bars = quicker et's?

this months issue of extreme street arrived this week and in it they have a relatively large write up on traction bars for leaf sprung rear ends, claiming to eliminate axle tramp and help the car to bog down, i'm wondering if anyone has a pair of these fitted and did they see any real improvements on the track? a lot of guys including myself get axle tramp and i wonder if could be helpful in hunting that elusive 13 sec NA AU which sounds like something stav might be interested in...

Did they mention the legality of tramp bars? Did they mention that they make the car's handling turn to dog faeces? Did they mention that they are worth around 0.2 seconds at best - not a lot in a 15 second car - ie not enough good to outweigh the bad, IMO.

I have used traction bars a few months ago.heheh been there done that

Traction bars are amazing .They work fantastic.Maybe this magazine got motivated after reading about my exploits recently..lol..

Ok ..facts...my lowered leaf springs sagged and sucked badly. I installed traction bars and the car launched much better.Traction bars also saved my life. few weeks after I installed the bars my rear left wheel studs all broke clean off and the car dropped /slid on the traction bars in a tunnel..the m5 motorway. They definately help launch when your rear suspension is poor. After the traction bars were damaged from my episode I never installed any again. They may be dangerous in a pothole though because they will cause you to be thrown anyway.

yeah i figured that handling would suffer due to the traction bar basically limiting spring, how much do you reckon it dropped your E.T stav? and how much did they cost? they don't look terribly hard to remove if you wanted to bolt them on only to drag that way you could get around the dangers of the suspension travel and possibility of having an unroadworthy car, if they were indeed to lower your E.T by 0.2 each car/quarter mile time would vary of course, that would mean that you stav, are only 0.102 of a second away from breaking the 13 second barrier but if you recently got your PB without the traction bar then maybe they arent useful on a 14 second car...

My handling improved dramatically mate.i was going around corners much faster and it stuck? Goes against the grain. i dont know how much et improved but I think the coilover polyair bags I later installed created similar effect with the added benefit of being able to carry 500kgs without issues.
