I would much rather be able to touch up the few shiny bits where the black has chipped off the anodised sleeves on my B pillars than replace these covers.
I remember reading in the Forum that touching up with paint only encourages the anodising to come off. Has anyone come up with a reliable fix? How about using a black felt tipped pen?

Felt tip pen works. So does spraying with etch primer, then primer, then any colour you want (gloss or satin black would be my pick).

I was thinking of replacing those covers as my brother rolled the car into a wall with the door open and crumpled it a little.:togo: Do you know how much they are and where to get them from?

I've used the felt tipped pen myself and it's okay, but not great.
A panel beater told me that it's a plastic wrap that they use and any good sign writer should be able to redo them pretty easily and cheaply. That's what he said he does, when he has such a job. Cheers, GK

I was looking into a Satin black paint that they use on trailers... its longer lasting and a bit more chip/scratch resistant... reg paint and anodised are to soft IMO...

If you mean the covers on the outside, my drivers door one is scuffed on the inside edge. I touch it up with a felt tip/permanent marker, but I noticed this morning that it had come off with the rain so I guess I'll have to do it again. How exactly does a sign writer go about fixing it?
I guide/write by someone who goes about repainting them would be fantastic! Some pics of the finished product would also be good |

I replaced mine about 12 months ago. They weren't too expensive.
Only trouble is that after a year you wouldn't know they had been replaced. The new ones are already as bad as the old ones were. I won't bother replacing them again. |

Far out you guys must be rough on your cars. There isn't a single chip on mine at all.

Deadly Weapon: Your Ford dealer has them and they are not too pricey. One thing I will tell you, if you do buy new ones, makes sure you wash the protective film off them with warm soapy water ok? Many panel beaters don't know that ahd stuff them trying to use other STUFF to remove it

Mine doesn't have any chips either. I kept applying paint protection to them every few months
Once you get new ones or if they are not chipped yet, you can hand or machine polish them with any non abrasive polish and seal with any paint sealant I machine polished mine a little while ago with my own glass based permanent polish Won't be like the paint but will have some decent reflection and be black
