Default BOSS powered XA coupe?

hey all, was at my local sprints store thismorning (parafeild gardens, adelaide) and the boys were telling me about a boss 290 powered XA coupe getting around. Its yellow with XC alloy 'sports' wheels on it.
anyone know anything about it?

/waits for the obligatory "this thread is worthless without pics" post...

I know nothing about the XA, but on the subject of coupes with BOSS motors in 'em, and considering people like piccies...

And apparently the BOSS motors are heavier than Clevos. Makes you wonder why people do it, but I guess each to their own...

Because economy was measured in those days in buckets/km and most are carbied and some people like injection - not to mention you can back the boss up with a super smooth 6 speed auto which means final drive ratios are more flexible.... i could go on

Indeed you could.

Although injecting a Clevo isn't all that hard by comparison and as for transmissions, well you can bolt anything up to just about anything these days with the right adapters and bellhousings.

If the XC in the pictures (or indeed the XA that monty saw) had a complete BOSS driveline (and by that I mean engine, 'box, IRS and all the fruit) then I see more point to it. Just not my cup of tea, I suppose.

Oh, and the word "economy" should never be associated with a Ford Cleveland V8 engine. That's what makes them so much fun. :evil3:

You would be surprised how economical you can get a carbed V8..

Try a 7 litre in a 1750kg car that used 30 litres less fuel than a WRX STi on a track day..as for gearboxes and ratio's,only your imagination is the limit..

Why? The plugs are in the middle of the valve cover... much easier than a clevo or windsor... :P

Yeah, you must be thinking about big blocks. Unless you notch the shock towers in X-series cars that have BBs in them, there's very little room to change the plugs, although I'm told it can be done. With lots of swearing and scraped skin...

Nah, big blocks aren't that bad.

Dad has a 429CJ in his Landau, and the plugs are at a better angle than the clevo's plugs are. No need for shock tower notching either...

Maybe if you were putting an FE in there notching would be required, they are much wider than the 385 series.

Apologies, you're absolutely right. Although technically an XW/Y is an X-series...

I'd like to steer this thread in a general direction if we may, until we see pics of the yellow coupe with the 'BOSS' motor. I thought i'd be looking at a clevo headed windsor, but this concept is much more intriguing, nice to see a sensible retro fit.
But picture this.
XB coupe with 4.0L lexus V8! And supra taillights to boot!
Have you guys heard of this car before?
It was residing in Mackay when I was living there, nice bloke from Sydney built it and it featured in Street Fords or some such mag. I had a ride in it at our local grass drifting events up there a few years ago (I still kicked his and everyone elses at that event in my R31 i might add) and poured my eyes over it a bit. Its a neat bit of gear. I forgave him for butchering a hardtop.
Personally i was going to go with a 460 or a injected '51 windsor in my old xa
What else has been stuffed into a coupe?

i remember that car... had coolxk or something for the rego...
didnt turn out too bad in the end... didnt it have el gt rims on it or something similar?
majority of the coupes out there have the trusty old clevo... and for good reason i might add...
theres the twin turbo one that pops up on here evrry now and then...
